Suns vs. Clippers Game 2 Preview, Odds, and Predictions

© Joe Camporeale- USA TODAY Sports

Game Preview:

Later tonight at 7 PM AZ time, the Phoenix Suns host the Los Angeles Clippers at the Footprint Center for a must-win matchup in Game 2 of this 7-game series. The Clippers won a close one on Sunday night 115-110 in what looks to be a crazy back-and-forth series between the two teams.

Kawhi Leonard was amazing in Game 1 as he scored 38 points on an efficient 54% shooting. Eric Gordon and Norman Powell had solid scoring games as well. They combined for 33 points on 50% shooting. And we can’t forget about Russell Westbrook.

Even though he shot 3-19 from the floor, his defense and efforts on the glass late in the game and throughout were key in their winning. He had 10 rebounds with 5 of them being on the offensive glass as well as 2 steals and 3 blocks including the one that sealed the game on Devin Booker late.

As for the Suns, it was a slow start for them to begin the game but they started to pick it up in the second quarter. Kevin Durant ended up finishing with 27 points and 11 assists and Devin Booker dropped 26 points to go along with 3 blocks. Defensively, it was one of the best performances of Booker’s career as he was everywhere on the court.

Torrey Craig had a career-high in playoff points with 22 on 75% shooting. During yesterday’s practice, he jokingly took a jab at Clippers center Ivica Zubac for the reason why he had a huge performance. Here are the odds and my prediction for Game 2 tonight.

Odds for Game 2:

Against the Spread: Suns are favored at -8.

Moneyline: Suns are set at -345 and the Clippers are set at +290.

Over/Under: The game is set at 227.

Prediction:

I have the Suns bouncing back and winning tonight’s game by a final score of 120-106. I believe they take care of business and go against the spread. I expect a huge offensive explosion by Devin Booker and Kevin Durant in the likelihood that the Suns can’t afford to go down 2-0 going back to Los Angeles.

It will be a close game in the first half but then I expect the Suns to go on big runs in the second and third quarters to take control of this game and go home with a win.

Was Kevin Durant Under Utilized in Final 5 Minutes of Game 1?

Tip-off begins at 7 PM AZ time and the game will be aired on TNT and Bally Sports Arizona.
