It was a busy day for ASU sports today. ASU basketball had a lot of news surrounding the program, including a departing transfer, an incoming transfer, a visiting transfer and a 2025 offer.

As reported earlier, ASU lost its second-leading scorer DJ Horne to NC State this morning. Within a matter of hours, Bobby Hurley and staff were able to replace Horne, getting a commitment from the Sun Devil’s biggest transfer yet, LSU guard Adam Miller.

Now, for some other news.

San Francisco’s Zane Meeks visits Sun Devils

Last season, ASU suffered arguably its most embarrassing loss to San Francisco, traveling on the road right after getting ranked for the first time all year and getting blown out 97-60. Fast forward to today, 6-foot-9 forward Zane Meeks, who had nine points on 3-4 shooting from downtown off the bench for the Dons against the Sun Devils, reportedly visited ASU tonight.

Meeks started in half of San Francisco’s games. He is a versatile forward and averaged 10.9 points and 5.1 rebounds this season for the Dons.

Meeks transferred to San Francisco from Nevada before the 2021-22 season. In the 2020-21 season at Nevada, he played with the Sun Devil’s leading scorer last season, Desmond Cambridge Jr., and ASU’s starting center Warren Washington. Cambridge is out of eligibility and Washington currently has his name in the NBA Draft.

Meeks would fill a big need for the Sun Devils at the forward position. Him and Alonzo Gaffney would be the stretch forwards on next season’s team.

ASU offers 2025 guard Jeremiah Fears

Fears is a 6-foot-3 guard from Illinois who holds multiple offers from Division I programs.

Bobby Hurley is operating quickly once again in what has become the busiest time of the year for players leaving and joining teams with the new transfer portal rules.
