There isn’t anything like a game against your old team. Just ask a guy like Damion Lee when he went back to play against the Golden State Warriors a couple of months ago in a win at Chase Center. That game meant so much to him.

It’s the same kind of situation for Terrence Ross who spent 7 seasons with the Orlando Magic before agreeing to a buyout and joining the Phoenix Suns later in the season in hopes of competing for an NBA championship.

Ross spoke with the media at practice today on what his thoughts are in terms of going against his former team and just like you might’ve guessed, he’s amped up for the opportunity.

“I’m very excited,” said Ross. “It’s going to feel a little weird playing against them but for sure you know I’m ready to play.”

Ross was also asked a question of if there was going to be extra motivation in terms of playing against his former team tonight given that the Suns are in desperate need of a win.

“Oh, big time,” said Ross. “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t but you know it’s for sure one of those games that you know it kind of means like a chip on your shoulder almost. It’s going to be exciting, especially being around those guys for as long as I was and now being on a different team and playing a game that’s for all the marbles so it’s going to be fun.”

One of the players that the Suns have to account for in this game is the number one overall pick and rookie of the year candidate Paolo Banchero. Ross spent a lot of time with him this season and still keeps in contact with him even now.

It should be a huge day for Ross as he’s seeing old friends and coaches in what looks like going to be an emotional day for him today. The Suns have lost their last three games and they’re hoping to get back on track tonight.
