The Arizona Diamondbacks have locked up Corbin Carroll, one of the league’s best prospects, to an eight-year, $111 million contract.

Carroll was drafted 16th overall by the Diamondbacks in the 2019 draft. However, due to injury, Carroll did not make his MLB debut until late last season.

The 22-year-old played in 32 games last year. During that time, he slashed for a .830 OPS and recorded 27 hits.

This contract breaks an all-time record for players who have played in fewer than 100 career games.

While it is a massive risk taken by Arizona, they truly believe Carroll is what the franchise needs to finally get back into a consistent winning groove.

And the D-backs are not alone with their high expectations; Corbin Carroll was ranked as the #2 prospect heading into this season, only behind Gunner Henderson.
