Later today, Kevin Durant is going to be live at Footprint Center getting introduced as a new member of the Phoenix Suns on what will likely go down as one of the most important days in the Suns’ history.

Based on this news, I wanted to take a chance and go back to a couple of days ago when the Phoenix Suns played the Sacramento Kings at Footprint while Durant was in attendance for the first time as a member of the team.

Durant, ended up getting a standing ovation and fans were going absolutely crazy whenever they showed Durant on the Jumbotron.

In light of this, players on the bench were also enamored with his presence as well as they still can’t believe that this is real. Deandre Ayton in particular is more than happy and in awe to see one of his favorite players growing up be a teammate of his now.

“I’m really speechless, to be honest. We got KD, ain’t that something? That’s what I ask myself all the time. The only thing I can do is make sure I’m ready to play because he’s going to come ready to play and do what he got to do every night so me just making sure I’m the anchor on this team and you know just doing the right things to contribute to a win.”

Ayton was also asked whether that was his favorite player growing up and his answer was priceless to everybody in the media room.

“Oh yeah most deaf, you know I ain’t really tell him the stories yet you know I’m still trying to keep it player. You know what I’m saying? I’m going to have to try to find some other way but I mean other than that I’m super excited you know it’s still unbelievable just you know coming to practice and you see a 7 footer and you know it’s KD.”

Devin Booker who also grew up a big Kevin Durant fan has also been enamored by the future hall-of-famer’s presence and is still speechless that he’s a teammate of his this season.

“Yeah, I mean I was watching him more than anything and I don’t think people realize what it is until you’re in it and you know I think I you got two standing ovations and it’s not going to be the last one so you know he deserves that. He’s a legend in this game, first ballot Hall-of-Famer everything all the way down the list MVP and you know I’m glad he’s here hopefully he can call this home one day and you know rock out here the rest of the time.”

Deandre Ayton may have finally taken the leap

Making this home one day would be an amazing thing for Suns fans everywhere. Based on the culture that Suns head coach Monty Williams built along with players Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, and Chris Paul and ex-players Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, and Jae Crowder, it could one day but only time will tell.
