Rising drew against New Mexico United, 3-3, and took a win on penalties in its second Jägermaster Cup appearance. Avayevu was one of six players to score in regulation and had one assist.
Phoenix head coach Pa-Modou Kah credits the Ghanaian midfielder for being a constant for the club.
“[Avayevu] is one of our main creators in the game,” he said. “And I think he’s one of the best players we have as well.”
