The D-Backs have had some success in the past against this Nationals ball club, which they will look to replicate today. Washington has had a rough start to the 2025 season as they hold a 1-5 record throughout the first six game, including coming off of getting swept by the Toronto Blue Jays. On the other hand, Arizona will come into this series with some momentum, after they just took two out of the three games in New York against the Yankees.

Over the last two seasons, the D-Backs have a 10-2 record against the Nationals, and they seem to love playing in D.C., as they are 5-1 at Nationals Park.

Brandon Pfaadt will get the start today, his second of the season. Pfaadt, who just received a contract extension will look to have another outing. His first matchup of the season against the Chicago Cubs, he went six innings and gave up only three runs, with one walk, and five strikeouts on the side. He will look to show why the D-Backs were so confident in his abilities, by giving him that contract extension, by shutting down Washington today.

For the Nationals, they will be riding with Jake Irvin on the mound today. He did come out strong in his first start of the 2025 season, as he went five innings and only gave up two runs against the Phillies. Although last season, in 33 games pitched he had a 4.41 ERA and his lone start against the D-Backs last season he have up four runs on eight hits in five innings.
