Averaging 12.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game, Cloud’s impact goes deeper than the box score.

Her infectious tenacity combined with her vocal leadership has been crucial for a new-look Mercury squad. Being Phoenix’s lead point-of-attack defender, Cloud has made an early case for an All-Defensive team selection, and she believes that it’s earned.

“If y’all leave me off an [All-Defensive] team this year, I’m going to lose my mind,” Cloud said. “I’m guarding one through five. One through five! I love that. I’ve always been a defensive minded player. I think it’s a testament to my Philly roots, too. I take that challenge, and I love it. I love going up against Dearica [Hamby], I love going up against A’ja [Wilson], I love going up against whoever is the best opponent on the other team. That’s a role I want to take for this team. When you talk about understanding who you are and what you’re meant to be for this team, that’s who I am.”
