With a plethora of offseason additions, the hype surrounding the Phoenix Mercury going into the 2024 WNBA season has grown more and more.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!So far, the Mercury have acquired Kahleah Copper in a blockbuster trade from the Chicago Sky, signed Natasha Cloud via free agency and completed a sign-and-trade with the Connecticut Sun for Rebecca Allen.
One of the many voices expressing their anticipation to watch the Mercury is Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant.
“To have Kahleah [Copper] and Tasha [Natasha Cloud] in Phoenix, I am excited for them,” Durant said during a media opportunity. “I am excited for them because they are stepping into a situation where ownership and leadership is looking to building a culture here. For those two to be the first two big acquisitions to help with that, you know it’s a lot of responsibility… I can’t wait to go out there and support.”

After finishing 9-31 a year ago, the Mercury have been trying to rejuvenate the squad into a championship contender.
Previously watching both Copper and Cloud before, Durant believes their play styles will be fit into the Mercury’s system.
“Kahleah can handle, pass, rebound, defend. Natasha can defend, run the offense, shoot. They’ve [Mercury] got versatile players and the more versatile players you have, the better chance you got to win. I can’t wait to watch.”
To kickstart their season, the Mercury will be on the road to face the Las Vegas Aces on May 14th.
As for the Suns, they play the Dallas Mavericks tonight at 5:30 p.m. MST.
