Vogel said they would see how Beal responded to their practice yesterday before determining his status.
“He still felt it enough that it does feel he isn’t quite ready to be back yet,” Vogel said.
The Suns will start Eric Gordon for the second straight game in Beal’s place, Vogel added.

This will be the Suns’ first game out of the break. Beal missed the Suns’ last contest, a 116-100 victory over the Detroit Pistons last Wednesday. Gordon had 13 points when he got the start then.
Beal suffered the injury during last Tuesday’s win over the Sacramento Kings in the first quarter and did not return.
In addition to the hamstring injury, Beal also underwent a nasal procedure to fix his nasal fracture suffered Jan. 26 over the break. Vogel said yesterday Beal will still wear a protective mask on his nose despite the procedure when he returns. Beal is averaging 18.2 points on 49.5% shooting, 4.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 30 games this season.
Tonight will also be the first game that new addition Thaddeus Young is available for the Suns. Vogel said “we’ll see” in terms of if Young will get minutes against the Mavericks.
Damion Lee is the only other Suns’ player out after undergoing right meniscus surgery this offseason.
"We had him get a little work in today, but not overdo it with 3 games in 4 nights."
