Almost two months after acquiring Cameron Payne from the Suns, the San Antonio Spurs are now waiving the point guard, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 29-year-old now gets a chance to go to a contending team where he can have a bigger role.
A reunion with the Suns is not possible.
San Antonio now with 17 players on guaranteed contracts.
They will need to waive 2 players by the start of the season.
Payne had a $6.5M expiring contract.

Payne averaged 10.3 points and 4.5 assists in 48 games for Phoenix last season. He ended off his time in the Valley with a bang, scoring 31 points in the Suns’ Game 6 loss against the Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals.
