Kevin Durant could return as soon as next Wednesday

The Phoenix Suns may have their newly acquired 13-time All Star Kevin Durant back on the court as soon as next Wednesday against the Timberwolves, per NBA insider Shams Charania.

Durant initially played three games with the Suns before spraining his ankle in warmups, just before what would have been his home debut in Phoenix.

It was initially reported that Durant was expected to miss the rest of the regular season; however, as the Suns have now dropped five of their last six games, there is a sense of urgency ringing through the front office.

The Suns went 3-0 while KD started, he finished with a remarkable +46 in that stretch. If he is able to return by next Wednesday, that will give the Suns seven games with their new superstar.

With the Western Conference closer than ever, Phoenix is now just two poor games away from looking at a play-in game, something that seemed impossible just a couple weeks ago while Durant was healthy.

Tonight, the Suns will take on the Sacramento Kings in a pivotal Friday night matchup. The Suns currently hold a 2-1 season record over the Kings, meaning a win tonight would clinch the season series, which could very well be important if a tiebreaker is in play.
