Phoenix improved to 9-2 over its last 11 games behind a balanced scoring effort and sharp 3-point shooting in a lopsided 112-93 win over the Washington Wizards on Jan. 11. During that stretch, the Suns own the best record in the NBA since Christmas, according to StatMuse.

In Sunday’s win, Royce O’Neale led the Suns with a season-high 19 points and five 3-pointers. Devin Booker added 17 points, while Dillon Brooks had 16. Phoenix also knocked down at least 14 shots from beyond the arc for a fifth straight game, continuing a trend that has fueled its surge.

After starting the season 1-4, Phoenix is now 24-15 and has climbed into the sixth seed in the Western Conference. Fueled by depth, resiliency and consistent effort, the Suns show no signs of slowing down.

Guard Jalen Green has been dealing with a lingering hamstring injury since the beginning of the season. Despite returning on Nov. 6 and scoring a monster 29 points in his Suns debut, Green re-aggravated the same injury shortly after and has been sidelined ever since.

When asked postgame Sunday whether Green could return during the upcoming road trip, head coach Jordan Ott offered a short response.

“That’s the plan.”

Adding Green back into the mix would provide a significant boost to the Suns’ depth. His presence alongside Booker, Brooks and O’Neale could help reshape the backcourt and allow for deeper rotations that have already thrived in his absence.

As the team prepares for the next leg of its schedule, the emergence of an X-factor and the potential return of an elite scorer may be the right recipe as the Suns brace for a grueling two-week stretch.

Green’s comeback, whenever it comes, could be the final piece for a Suns team that is heating up at exactly the right time.
