GLENDALE – One of the biggest moments from the Arizona Cardinals Week 1 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs was the end of half touchdown connection between Jacoby Brissett and Xavier Weaver. The 1-yard touchdown throw gave Arizona the lead, which it never surrendered, and ended a nearly two-year drought for Xavier of reaching the endzone.

After getting that monkey off his back, Weaver can start to focus on making a serious impact with the Cardinals. The 24-year-old was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and only appeared in two games for Arizona. However, this preseason could be the start of something special for the Weaver, which continues against the Denver Broncos in the Mile High City.
What can Weaver show Cardinals against Broncos:
Broncos head coach Sean Payton told reporters after Thursday’s joint practice that neither team will play their starters during Saturday’s game. The news will surely perk the ears of Weaver, who is currently projected as the fifth wide receiver on the roster. Brissett will likely get the start under center, which sets up well to continue on his and Weaver’s connection.

The 6’1 wide receiver illustrated his elusiveness against the Chiefs in a small sample size. Saturday will see an increase amount of reps for Weaver, where he can showcase his skills against a talented Denver defense, despite the lack of starters.
