TEMPE – Quietly building one of the strongest skateboarding communities in the country, Arizona is now on the map for professional skateboarding. On August 29, that growth receives one of its biggest validations yet as Street League Skateboarding returns to Tempe, bringing the world’s premier street skating competition back to where its story began. Hosting the event at Mullett Arena isn’t simply about nostalgia; it’s proof that Arizona has become a destination worthy of one of the sport’s biggest stages.

The significance stretches well beyond a single competition. Skateboarding has transformed dramatically since becoming an Olympic sport, exposing millions of new fans to elite competition while creating unprecedented opportunities for young athletes. That momentum has reached the Valley, where events like Cowtown’s Phoenix Pro-Am have become annual showcases for some of the world’s best talent while strengthening Arizona’s reputation within the skating community.

Street League Skateboarding takes over Tempe:

Arizona native Dashawn Jordan, whose growing popularity, including his recent collaboration with the Arizona Diamondbacks, has made him one of the event’s biggest local attractions. Street League Skateboarding also includes a roster of internationally recognized stars including Angelo Caro, Chaz Ortiz, and Chris Cole.

For Arizona State University and Mullett Arena, hosting Street League further diversifies a venue already known for hockey, concerts, and major sporting events. More importantly, it introduces thousands of new visitors and a national audience to Tempe, reinforcing Arizona’s ability to host world-class competitions across multiple sports. The lasting impact will be measured by the young fans who leave believing Arizona isn’t just a top-tier place to skate; it’s one of the places where the future of skateboarding is being written.
