AD Graham Rossini speaking about what the trip means to ASU:
The game will be broadcast on FoxSports1 and will be a chance for head coach Kenny Dillingham to wipe the sour taste of last year out of his mouth. After starting the year 8-3, with an outside chance of making the College Football Playoffs, ASU would lose to rival Arizona at home, and then Duke for its Bowl game. Back-to-back disheartening losses to end a successful season is likely Dillingham’s biggest motivation heading into next year.

ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham celebrates with Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (0) after a touchdown drive against BYU during the first half at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe on Nov. 23, 2024.
After losing critical players like Jordyn Tyson and Max Iheanachor to the NFL draft, Dillingham once again has his back against the wall. Many called the Sun Devils CFP trip in 2024 a fluke, and the loss of Cam Skattebo would be too great. However, a New Year’s Eve bowl game and eight-win season did a stellar job of illustrating that Dillingham can manage the loss of personnel. With Tyson, Iheanachor and starting quarterback Sam Leavitt gone, the fourth-year ASU coach will once again have to stake his claim of his team being a top program in the nation.
A national-televised game in one of the most famous stadiums against a conference opponent is the perfect opportunity for Dillingham to cement himself as one of the best coaches in college football.
