Minshew on LaFleur’s offensive scheme:
The seven-year pro compared it the offense to his time in college under the leadership of Mike Leach at Washington State. During his lone season as a Cougar, Minshew led the Pac-12 in pass attempts, completions percentage, passing yards and touchdowns. He played the best football of his career, and despite not reaching those heights in the NFL thus far, LaFleur gives Minshew his best opportunity to replicate that production.

Minshew detailed the simplicity of the first-year head coach’s schemes that is hidden behind pre-snap movement and formations. LaFleur has given Minshew and other players “confidence” by being able to install the offense so effortlessly during OTAs. The absence of last year’s starter Jacoby Brissett has given the former Pro Bowler first-team reps and an opportunity to build a bond with his new teammates, as they all try to learn this new system together.
