For the 24th consecutive year, the Thunderbirds will offer free admission to all active, reserve, veteran and retired U.S. military personnel. The offer also extends to active law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMTs.
What began as a simple thank-you has grown into one of the tournament’s most meaningful traditions, rooted in giving back to those who have served the country.

“Offering free admission to our military, first responders and emergency medical professionals is one of the most meaningful traditions of the WM Phoenix Open,” said Jason Eisenberg, the tournament’s 2026 chairman. “While this event is known for its energy and excitement, at its heart it’s about gratitude and community. The men and women who serve our country and protect our communities deserve to be recognized and welcomed, and we’re proud to honor them once again at The People’s Open.”
Known around the country for its massive crowds and party-like atmosphere, the WM Phoenix Open has also built a reputation for community impact. As hosts of one of the largest sporting events in the Valley, the Thunderbirds have long emphasized service and giving back through charitable donations and outreach.

During tournament week, the Birdies for the Brave Patriots Outpost will be open Wednesday through Sunday, offering a dedicated space for military members from all five branches of the Armed Forces. It’ll provide complimentary food and drinks in a comfortable setting, away from the tournament’s high-energy atmosphere.
While golf is the centerpiece of The People’s Open, the event also serves as a reminder and public acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by those who serve. In a state with a strong military presence and first responders frequently on the front lines, the gesture carries special meaning.
The WM Phoenix Open is scheduled for Feb. 2-8 at TPC Scottsdale. Those eligible for complimentary admission can find more information on the tournament’s official website.
