Devin Booker hasn’t looked like one of the NBA’s most elite shooting guards lately, at least not in the traditional sense. Fewer 30-point nights, less highlight dominance, and yet, Phoenix continues to stack wins. That’s not a coincidence; it’s design. Booker’s value right now is gravitational. When he’s on the floor, defenses still shade, blitz, and rotate as if the explosion is coming. Phoenix’s offensive efficiency spikes with Booker on the court, even when his usage dips, largely because shot quality improves and catch-and-shoot opportunities rise. That’s where players like Brooks and Gillespie enter the equation, beneficiaries of space created, not minutes gifted.

Against Cleveland, that matters. The Cavs have been one of the Eastern Conference’s best teams the past few seasons, built on defensive discipline and rim protection. This year, Cleveland hasn’t had that huge jump to the top of the standings, and Phoenix will have more than a chance to contend on Wednesday night.

For Phoenix fans, this is the psychological shift as the Suns are playing a long game. Sacrificing individual dominance for sustainable pressure, as Booker’s willingness to draw two and trust the pass is strategic maturity, not decline. Tonight’s winning streak is on the line, and if the Suns want to end 2025 on a high note, they will continue to spread the ball around and embrace the scoring depth.
