On3’s Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong reported that the Sun Devils quarterback is planning to enter the transfer portal at the end of the season and explore other options.
Dallin, Leavitt’s older brother, posted a screenshot on his Instagram story of a conversation between himself and Nakos before the report was posted, saying it wasn’t “where things are right now.”

The report added another layer of confusion to the developing storyline. Leavitt has been ruled out for the rest of the season because of a right foot injury that required surgery. The sophomore is undoubtedly weighing his future, but no other public reports have surfaced regarding his plans.
Leavitt has been on the radar since his breakout 2024 season, when he was named Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year. He completed 216 passes for 2,885 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions.

This season was expected to be a continuation, but his injury halted progress. Now, he faces a decision about what path best positions him for long-term success, especially if he hopes to pursue an NFL career.
After the program’s recent uncertainty surrounding its head coach and his future at Arizona State, the conflicting reports about Leavitt add another layer of instability, especially for a key player who helped lead the team to a Big 12 Championship.

Neither Leavitt nor Arizona State has addressed the report directly.
For now, the quarterback’s future remains uncertain, but based on his brother’s post, he does not appear to have decided to leave the Valley yet.
