Phoenix is already missing star guard Jalen Green for the road trip with a right hamstring strain, and Williams will be out due to right knee injury management.

The seven-footer missed all of preseason as he was ramping up and has been on a minutes restriction in the Suns’ first two games of the season. Oso Ighodaro has started at center as Jordan Ott and the coaching staff aim for a nightly “minutes target” for Williams. He played 23 minutes against Sacramento and just 13 against the Clippers on Friday.

Suns’ center rotation faces toughest test yet

Phoenix had its hands full against Ivica Zubac last night, but it’s about to get a lot more difficult against Denver’s Nikola Jokic, who is looking to bounce back from a season-opening dud against Golden State.

Jokic put up 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists on 8-of-23 shooting in the Nuggets’ 137-131 overtime loss to the Warriors on Thursday. Ighodaro, Nick Richards and Khaman Maluach may all see minutes against the three-time MVP.

Tipoff is at 6 p.m. MST and the game will be televised on Arizona’s Family and Altitude Sports.
