Warner on why he believes in Brissett:
Warner appeared on the PHNX Cardinals podcast and spoke highly of the career backup. Brissett has started in 57 games in his decade-long career, going 19-36 in those games. During his tenure in the NFL, Brissett has earned the reputation of being one of the premier backup quarterbacks in the NFL. He’s started a game for six different franchise, winning a game for five of them (Arizona being the lone exception).

Under the play calling of offensive coordinator Drew Petzing, Brissett has blossomed in a system that he feels comfortable in, and the tape shows it. Warner believes the 32-year-old could be a starter on multiple teams, but has his reason play made the Cardinals one of those team?
The answer is likely no. Arizona is paying Murray over $50 million and won’t be able to offload his contract till 2027 to avoid dead money in the cap space. Regardless of the cap implications, the franchise has invested too much into Murray to switch after only two weeks away. Despite some support from a Hall of Famer, Brissett will surely return to the bench when Murray is healthy.
