Crook recorded a season-high 12 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack, helping lead the defensive effort in the win.

“Crook was pivotal in ASU limiting a Texas State offense that averaged 47.5 points per game to just 15 on Saturday,” the Big 12 posted in a press release. “He tallied the fifth-most tackles in FBS for the week with 12, which included three-and-a-half for a loss with a sack. His tackles for loss were the most by a Sun Devil since Tyler Johnson had the same amount against Stanford on Oct. 8, 2021.”

The senior’s defensive effort came at a crucial moment for the Sun Devils, who were looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss the previous week. Arizona State’s defense kept Texas State out of the end zone in the first half and stopped two 2-point conversion attempts. This gave ASU’s offense less pressure, as the team worked well on both sides of the ball.

The award is Crook’s and ASU’s first Big 12 weekly honor of the year.

Arizona State returns to action against Baylor on Saturday, Sept. 20, looking for its first back-to-back wins this season.
