The Mercury had two clinching scenarios: the first was a Dream win against the Wings, while the second was a Los Angeles Sparks loss to the Indiana Fever. With Atlanta’s win, Phoenix will play postseason basketball for the second straight season.

Fans immediately reacted online to the news, excited to see Phoenix in postseason action again.

This will be Phoenix’s 12th time in the playoffs in the last 13 years and the 15th time in the last 17 years. Although they have secured their spot, the team will now play for homecourt advantage.

Phoenix will host the New York Liberty on Saturday, Aug. 30, as New York hopes to clinch its spot in the postseason.
