PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns released its 2025 preseason schedule, where the franchise will travel across the world to play in China for two of the games. The four-game schedule will be played against two teams, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets. The preseason has been cut compared to the past two seasons, going from five to four games, likely because of the long travel to China.

This will be the sixth-straight preseason that the team will be playing the Lakers, including 2025, the Suns will have played them 10 times since 2020. The last time the franchise played an international game was in the regular season against the San Antonio Spurs in Mexico City during the 2019-2020 season.

“We are excited to bring the Phoenix Suns to Macao next year to compete in front of our passionate fans in the region,” Suns CEO Josh Bartelstein said in a press release in December. “Participating in The NBA China Games 2025 is part of our owner Mat Ishbia’s vision to bring the Suns to a global audience and impact fans across the world.”

This two-game set is the first game in China since former Houston Rockets and current Philadelphia 76ers general manager showed his support for the Hong Kong protested in 2019. The NBA and China shared a great relationship in the past but went through a rough patch the past six years. Phoenix will be one of the first team’s to rebuild that bond between the two entity, while also building the roster’s chemistry ahead of the regular season.
