D-Backs bats go quiet on Sunday:
Corbin Carroll made his much-anticipated return to the Arizona Diamondbacks lineup this weekend, but was unable to come away with a hit in his appearances against the Royals. He was just one of the few Snakes that came away hitless on Sunday as the bats of Ketel Marte, Josh Naylor, and Eugenio Suarez all went silent as well.

It was a similar situation to yesterday’s outing though on the wrong side for the Diamondbacks as Michael Lorenzen didn’t allow a hit until the bottom of the fifth inning. Anthony DeSclafani held his own until the middle innings when he gave up back-to-back solo home runs to Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez. The Royals ended up taking a 4-0 lead after they kept the bats going in the top of the fifth inning.

The D-Backs couldn’t get anything else going as they were shut out by the Kansas City Royals by a score of 4-0 at Chase Field. It’s been a rough stretch for the D-Backs as they are looking to get some sort of energy or persistence at the plate. Arizona will aim to get back on track before the season gets away from them. The next step for the Snakes is a road trip starting tomorrow night with a four-game road series at Petco Park against the San Diego Padres.
