Phoenix Rising takes on Lexington SC on holiday weekend

PHOENIX — Phoenix Rising are back home this holiday weekend and will face off against the Lexington SC on Friday at Phoenix Rising Soccer Stadium.

Rising defeated Texoma FC in their third match of the USL Jägermeister Cup, 5-4, on June 28. The high-scoring affair secured Phoenix its first win in the tournament and now it is third in Group Two with five points.

Head coach Pa-Modou Kah spoke to the media after the game and said the club should continue to strive for more, despite the win.

If were feeling content, thats not good,” Kah said. “We need to keep building and come into work every single day to get better.”

Lexington comes off a win against the Richmond Kickers, 3-0, on June 28 in their third match of the Jägermeister Cup. Two of their goals were made in the first half: Forster Ajago in the 10th minute and Marcus Epps in the 31st minute.

Cory Burke scored Lexington’s third goal of the match in the 90th minute.

Lexington is fourth in Group Five of the tournament with a 1-1-1 record and four points.

Phoenix Rising and Lexington SC will kick off on Friday, July 4 at 7:30 p.m.
