PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns wrap up their busy two-day 2025 NBA draft process with selecting Kentucky guard Koby Brea 41st overall. In the past 24 hours, general manager Brian Gregory has acquired three centers in Mark Williams, Khaman Maluach, and Rasheer Fleming. The roster was in need of a guard and Phoenix gets a sharpshooter in Brea, who shot 43.4% from 3 in his five-year collegiate career at Dayton and Kentucky.

What Brea brings to Suns:

Brea stands at 6’6 and has one of the purest strokes in the game. In his final season at Dayton, he shot 49.8% from 3 on 6.1 attempts. The 23-year-old knows how to get open and finds his spots. Devin Booker is an improved playmaker and will surely find Brea out in the corner or the wing for an open three-pointer when the defense collapses.

Poetically, Brea said one of his favorite player is Booker. The two had similar careers at Kentucky coming off the bench for a majority of their stay, while being able to shoot the ball at an efficient clip. His extensive college career makes him NBA-ready now and could be a sign of more change coming from Phoenix this offseason, with Brea filling the shoes of Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale.

Gregory and the Suns are still over the 2nd apron and will need to cut salary before the start of next season, which is why the Brea pick might be one the most valuable in this year’s draft class for Phoenix.
