Suns underwhelmed with Kevin Durant trade offers from Rockets, Spurs and Heat

PHOENIX – The top three contenders for Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant have not met the franchise’s expectations with their offer. The San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat have reportedly have not come forward with a compelling offer for the 15-time All-Star, according to The Atheltic’s Sam Amick and Jon Krawczynski. Phoenix is now shifting their focus into making Durant warm up to the idea of joining the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Suns not impressed with offers for Durant:

Reports have indicated that Durant has no desire to go to Minnesota. The former MVP went to college in Texas, which makes the Rockets and Spurs viable options, while the Heat have great weather and no state tax that has Durant interested. The Timberwolves certainly have the best playing situation, with the franchise making back to back Western Conference Finals. However, it appears the 36-year-old isn’t swayed by that factor.

The team that eventually trade for Durant will likely have to offer him an extension, as he is on the final year of his current deal. Teams have seemingly been hesitate on whether to offer the former two-time NBA Champion the extension with his age and injury history. Phoenix will either need to convince Durant to play for Minnesota or lower their asking price from the top three contenders.
