The Arizona Diamondbacks are looking to avoid the sweep today as they play the last game of their three-game series in Chicago on Sunday afternoon.

They lost yesterday 6-2, as Corbin Carroll and Tim Tawa were the only players to record a hit. Carroll went 3-for-4 yesterday including a home run in the first inning.

Sunday’s pitching matchup:
Today the D-Backs will have Merrill Kelly get the start, as he comes into this matchup with a 3-1 record having a 5.57 ERA. Kelly has looked solid despite his high ERA, as it was inflated after a bad outing in New York earlier this season against the Yankees. In his last five starts against the Chicago Cubs, Kelly has a 2-0 record and a 2.67 ERA and looked decent against them in the opening weekend as he went 5.1 innings and only allowed one earned run on three hits.

Chicago is turning to Jameson Taillon today, as he will look to have a better start against the D-Backs. In his last outing in Arizona, he gave up six runs in 4.1 innings. Although Taillon has come back stronger turning in quality starts against the Athletics, Rangers, and Padres.

Garrett Hampson will get the start over Eugenio Suárez at third today, Tim Tawa will also be over at second base. Corbin Carroll will look to continue his dominance as he now has seven home runs on the season boasting a .341 batting average.
