It is a long and winding road, as this one band “The Beatles”, once said. The Phoenix Rising came back home today after their thrilling victory in penalties over Tulsa FC in the U.S. Open Cup. The Rising advanced 4-2 after a heated 1-1 draw, and looked to bring that fire along with them. The fire burned late in today’s matchup, but it only saw a 2-2 result.

Phoenix started off slow, as Juan Sebastian Herrera scored in the 18th minute, followed by Dominik Wanner just 16 minutes later making it an early 2-0 lead. Jearl Margaritha continued his exceptional play by scoring one in the 37th minute bringing the lead within one. Damian Rivera, the substitute at halftime, came in and capitalized on his appearance by tying the game up at two goals a piece. Phoenix and Sacramento ended in a draw, in what was a hot and cold match for both teams. It might have been the off and on clouds that overlooked Phoenix Rising stadium.
One day at a time, and believing in each other. That is the idea that Phoenix Rising head coach Pa-Modou Kah is bringing to this football club. It’s very apparent that he is adamant on growing this football club through chemistry and strategy. Patience is a virtue, and even though they might not be there yet, it’s one step at a time.
The Phoenix Rising will look to get another win under their belt, as their record now stands at 1-3-3. Their next match kicks off at 7:00 p.m. PT (MST) at Phoenix Rising FC Stadium.
