PHOENIX – The Suns season has been a complete and utter disaster. Even worse, Phoenix has limited options headed into the offseason. But there’s a new rumor surrounding the team, that might give them a life line, albeit a historically expensive one.

What if the Suns bought out the final two years of Bradley Beal’s contract?

Beal has over $100 million dollars left on his contract and famously a no-trade clause. He would have no reason to do the Suns a favor and be bought out at 50 cents on the dollar. So more than likely, the buyout price would be incredibly high, if not the full price. So the question is would Suns owner Matt Ishbia be willing to write a $100M check for Beal to go away and clear the decks? Rumors are, he’s actually considering it.

A buyout of that magnitude has never been done. In fact, the biggest buyout in league history was done by the Rockets for Yao Ming for $15M. If the Suns did buy him out, what would the former All-Star now demand on the open market? Some of the many questions that the Suns have as they head into the offseason.
