All hope seemed lost when the D-Backs trailed 6-2 in the 8th inning, although they started to come alive right after. The Arizona Diamondbacks had an incredible rally, sending 12 hitters to the plate. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a game-tying home run to left field, and quickly after catcher Gabriel Moreno had a single. The consistency set up Josh Naylor, as he hit a double into center field bringing home Moreno to make it 7-6 lead.

The Arizona Diamondbacks needed a pinch hitter. They had an unfortunate dilemma and ran out of bench players, and head coach Torey Lovullo called upon his best option at the time.. which was pitcher, Ryne Nelson. In an incredible fashion, Ryne Nelson had a single right up the middle, scoring Josh Naylor. Unfortunately Eugenio Suárez was out at home but that didn’t stop the D-Backs at all. Alek Thomas then came up to the plate, and singled to right scoring Nelson. Corbin Carroll, putting the nail in the coffin, hit a double to center scoring Thomas, making it a 10-6 game.
Who is the closing pitcher?
A.J. Puk was the closer for the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 9th inning, he ended the game with only one inning pitched, giving up two hits and getting two strikeouts. Justin Martinez also made an appearance, pitching 0.2 innings giving up two hits.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will fly to New York for their first away game series of 2025. They will face the red hot Yankees offense in a three game series, starting on Tuesday, April 1st.
