PHOENIX — Phoenix Suns rookie Ryan Dunn has not been selected to the NBA Castrol Rising Stars Rookie team ahead of the 2025 NBA All-Star weekend. The NBA announced the three groups Tuesday.

The three teams consist of NBA sophomores, rookies and G League players chosen by NBA coaching staffs. The rookie team includes the likes of San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle, Los Angeles Lakers wing Dalton Knecht and Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain.

Dunn was one of the surprising rookies towards the beginning of the season and earned a starting spot in the Suns’ lineup as a result, replacing star guard Bradley Beal. In 24 starts, the rookie is averaging 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 stocks per game. Dunn also leads rookies and is ranked 5th in the NBA in defended field goal percentage (40.1%).

The Suns haven’t had a rookie make the rising stars game since Deandre Ayton in 2019. It should be noted that with McCain out with a season-ending meniscus injury, Dunn can still potentially make the game as an injury replacement.

The NBA Castrol Rising Stars event will be a mini-tournament consisting of four teams, airing on Friday, Feb. 14, at 9 p.m. ET on TNT. The winner of the Rising Stars tournament will play in the brand new NBA All-Star game tournament.
