PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns on Tuesday announced Tuesday that rookie center Oso Ighodaro is being assigned to the Valley Suns, Phoenix’s G League affiliate.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! This move comes amid a heated battle for center rotation minutes between newly-acquired bruiser Nick Richards, Mason Plumlee, Jusuf Nurkic and Ighodaro. Richards has been impressive since joining the Suns, averaging 11.8 points and 11.2 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in five games, including a 20-point, career-high-19-rebound game against the Washington Wizards.

The rookie center averaged 3.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game in 36 games. Ighodaro started in two games and averaged 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals in those games.
With Richards cementing his spot as the starting center and Plumlee giving the Suns quality veteran minutes behind him, it is a smart move to send Ighodaro to the Valley Suns where he can get guaranteed playing time rather than being third or fourth on the pedestal with the parent team.
The Valley Suns are on the road for a back-to-back against the Salt Lake City Stars, the Utah Jazz’s G League team, where Ighodaro will join them. They will then return to Tempe to play the San Diego Clippers on Friday at Mullet Arena.
