Cardinals take big OL in Kiper’s first mock draft

This years college football season has officially wrapped up, which means its time for us to start turning our attention to the NFL draft. A lot will change over the course of the next couple months as players draft stock goes up and down but its never to early to look at where some of our local guys might be going and who the Cardinals might be targeting. NFL draft guru  Mel Kiper released his first NFL mock draft and there were a few big takeaways.

For starters, he doesn’t have Arizona State star Cam Skattebo going in the first round. Not entirely surprising, even after the incredible performance he has in the Peach Bowl, mostly because running are hardly ever drafted very high. In fact, the only RB he has going in the first round is Ashton Jeanty, who has has being taken with the 20th pick by the Broncos.

The second thing of note is Arizona sitting with the 16th overall pick. Kiper has them taking Tyler Booker out of Alabama. He’s a massive offensive lineman. Everyone knows that the Cardinals desperately need help with their pass rush, but the problem is he has 5 of the first 15 picks being defensive ends or pass rushing linebackers. The draft board just isn’t cooperating. He also thinks there is a good chance that the Cardinals could trade back in the draft to try and get some more draft picks.

This years NFL draft is set for April 24th in Pittsburgh.
