Already having other setbacks, the three-time NBA All-Star has suffered a left hip contusion, right knee swelling, left calf strain and an elbow injury.
In the last six games he played before the latest injury, Beal was removed from the starting lineup and came off the bench instead. Beal has averaged 17.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals in 29 games (23 starts) this season.
Like Beal, Jusuf Nurkić will be inactive against the Pistons as he will miss his fourth straight game with an illness. Detroit will be without Jaden Ivey who sustained a left fibula fracture and has been scratched the past nine games.
Making his debut for his new team, Suns center Nick Richards is in Detroit and will be available for head coach Mike Budenholzer’s squad. Phoenix acquired Richards and a second-round pick in a trade with the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday for Josh Okogie and three second-round picks.
Tip-off between the Pistons (21-20) and Suns (20-20) begins at 2 p.m. PT inside Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich.
