The days of senior Cam Skattebo playing for ASU may be numbered before he enters the NFL Draft, but the Sun Devils may have found a replacement for the dominant running back.

Announced by the Sun Devils on X/Twitter, Army running back Kanye Udoh has transferred from West Point to Tempe.

Shortly after the news broke, Udoh said, “You’re gonna get 110% out of me Tempe!”

Udoh spent the past two seasons at Army, rushing for 1,117 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. Going 11-2 this year, the Black Knights were the American Athletic Conference champions after beating Tulane 35-14 on Dec. 6.

It will be a tall task to replicate or exceed Skattebo’s high-level production, but Udoh will be given every chance to become the starting running back next season. Skattebo has rushed for 1,568 yards and 19 touchdowns from 263 carries, and has the opportunity to surpass Eno Benjamin’s program record of 1,642 set back in 2018 when Arizona State faces Texas in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

As a high school prospect, Udoh was ranked as a two-star prospect by 247Sports out of St. Augustine Prep in New Jersey. He received offers from Rutgers, UMass, Temple, Boston College, Nebraska, West Virginia, Syracuse, UConn, Buffalo, Maryland and Delaware before joining the Army.

Since he transferred before his junior year, he will not have to serve in the Army after graduation. Cadets have to sign a commitment before their junior year, hence why a unique transfer like this was possible.

Joining ASU, the Sun Devils’ running back room will consist of Udoh, Kyson Brown, Raleek Brown, Jason Brown, Alton McCaskill and incoming freshman Demarius Robinson. Like Skattebo, senior DeCarlos Brooks’ collegiate career is over after the College Football Playoff.

Udoh is the fourth transfer portal addition Arizona State has made following wide receiver Jalen Moss (Fresno State), kicker Jesus Gomez (Eastern Michigan) and wide receiver Noble Johnson (Clemson).

The winter transfer portal window shuts on Dec. 28, so stay up-to-date with Burn City Sports on the latest news surrounding ASU.
