For the 98th time in each school’s history, ASU and Arizona will rekindle their longstanding rivalry and decide who gets bragging rights over the other with the final game of the regular season.

Facing off against its bitter enemy, Arizona State has the chance to secure a spot in the Big 12 Conference Championship with a win over Arizona. Currently tied with Colorado, BYU and Iowa, ASU also has just two defeats in the conference and cannot afford to lose or the Sun Devils’ chance to make the title game becomes minuscule.

Coming off of an emotional day in Tempe, ASU was able to beat BYU 28-23 and move a step closer to a trip to Arlington, Texas. Cam Skattebo had 28 carries for 147 yards and three touchdowns in the victory, remaining in the conversation for the Heisman Trophy.

After a 10-win season last year, Arizona is not bowl-eligible in head coach Brent Brennan’s first year on the job. The Wildcats were demolished 49-23 by TCU last week and have lost five of their last six games.

Prediction (Season Record: 7-4)

Arizona State 38-24 Arizona

Though ASU has had the opportunity to blow out both Kansas State and BYU over the past two weeks, the Sun Devils’ first-half domination hasn’t translated to a blowout victory in either as the opposition has been close to pulling off comebacks. Arizona has practically nothing to play before besides spoiling ASU’s chance at a spot in the Big 12 title game and rising in the College Football Rankings. It will be interesting to see what Arizona team comes out, but Arizona State has to expect the Wildcats to give it their all since it’s the last home game of the season in Tucson. Since it is usually a high-scoring affair between both rivals, that won’t change as it will be another shootout. Getting its 10th win of the season, however, Arizona State will come out victorious, win its first Territorial Cup since 2021 and put itself in a prime position to play in the conference championship.
