How ASU football star activates the valley

When one of the legendary college coaches talks about how great a competitor the Arizona State football team’s running back is, there must be talk brewing everywhere in and outside the Valley of the Sun. Sun Devil football has been preparing this week to activate for the duel in the desert, with ASU 9-2 on the road for a matchup against the University of Arizona 4-7 today for the annual Territorial Cup.

“You know that Cam Skattebo guy, that’s got to be my favorite player in college football,” Nick Saban said during ESPN’s College GameDay. “This guy, he’s rugged, tough. I mean, I just love a great competitor. He’s all that.”

With the unpredictable game endings for ASU including Big 12 bowl chatter, the Sun Devil’s running back Cam Skattebo is in the headlines and is starting to receive more recognition now, since coach Kenny Dillingham in the past said he was not getting it and should. The 5 ’11’’ senior has been putting in work with every carry and grinding on the gridiron, Skattebo currently has 226 carries for 1221 yards, with 14 touchdowns.

Skattebo impressively gains 849 yards after contact when the ball is in his hands, he demonstrated that today in the hot duel stiff-arming his opponents and running into the endzone for two touch downs first quarter. The activation is in full motion with No. 4 bringing sparks on the field, ASU flags fly in Arizona Stadium where so far ASU is off to a fiery start.

With Skattebo paving the way on the field, fans wear all gold to “Activate the Valley” to bring the spirit in a sea of red shirts, where ASU plans to add to their already winning season with a victory against the Wildcats. With the short drive for fans to Tucson the crowd will continue to roar all game, the Sun Devils are hopeful that the star performs exceptionally and with fan support that could increase the chance for another thrilling result.
