The Arizona Cardinals moved up three spots in the Week 9 Power Rankings after a comeback win against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The Cardinals found themselves placed one spot ahead of the Indianapolis Colts and one spot behind the Seattle Seahawks.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Eric Edholm, defending his ranking of 18th for Arizona, wrote, “Don’t look now, but the Cardinals are kind of rolling. At 4-4, they’re very much in the playoff hunt and have two home games before a Week 11 bye. The defense still has major strides to make, after Tua Tagovailoa diced the unit up a bit in his first game back. But the Cardinals now have a multi-faceted offense that leaned heavily on the run game against the Chargers in Week 7 and went to the air more Sunday in Miami. Both approaches resulted in rousing late-game wins.”
Edholm then continued with some praise for some individual players such as rookie WR Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride. He added, “Trey McBride went nuts on National Tight Ends Day, with a team-high nine catches for 124 yards. Marvin Harrison Jr. had his best all-around game of the season, with six catches — most of them hair-raising — for 111 yards, including a tremendous sliding TD catch on a great throw from Kyler Murray.”
Other 4-4 team rankings include the Colts at 19th, Seahawks at 17th, Bucs, at 16th, and 49ers at 14th.
Looking ahead, the Cardinals have two more games before their Week 11 bye, facing the 13th-ranked Bears and the 24th-ranked Jets. If you were to glance at the Cardinals four losses this season, you would see that they have come against teams ranked 6th, 5th, 3rd, and 1st, so pretty much the best talent the NFL has to offer.
In an unexpected shake-up, the Chiefs were dropped from the #1 spot in Edholm’s rankings despite remaining undefeated, with the Lions taking over as the top-ranked team.
