NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on X: “A new QB in Las Vegas: The #Raiders are signing Desmond Ridder off the #Cardinals practice squad, per sources. Aidan O’Connell is headed to injured reserve and now Ridder, the former #Falcons starter, joins Gardner Minshew in the Raiders QB room.”

The Cardinals acquired Ridder from the Atlanta Falcons back in March in exchange for Rondale Moore. He lost the backup quarterback battle to Clayton Tune in the preseason and has been on the practice squad since the beginning of the regular season.

Ridder played 19 games (17 starts) during his tenure in Atlanta after being drafted 74th overall out of Cincinnati in 2022. While with the Falcons, he completed 322-of-503 passes for 3,544 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also rushed 69 times for 257 yards and five touchdowns. Atlanta was 8-9 when Ridder started at quarterback.

During the preseason this year with Arizona, Ridder connected on 20-of-35 passes for 225 yards.

Now, the former third-round pick could look to carve out a role for himself on the field in Vegas with injuries in an already below-average quarterback room.
