The Arizona Diamondbacks received some tough injury news on Tuesday, as Alek Thomas is expected to miss around four weeks due to a right internal oblique strain, according to Jack Sommers.

Thomas was optioned to Triple-A by the D-backs a week ago after struggling at the plate for several weeks, with his batting average down to .197 at the time of his demotion.

The 24-year-old then played a few games with the Reno Aces in Triple-A, where he made an immediate impact, hitting a two-run homer in his first game.

While the Diamondbacks have recently regained some key arms in their rotation, including Eduardo Rodriguez and Merrill Kelly, their batters have been hit hard by injuries. Christian Walker was the first to land on the injured list before the trade deadline, followed by Gabriel Moreno with a groin injury, and then Ketel Marte with a sprained ankle.

Stay tuned for further updates.
