“Humbled and excited to be a part of the (Suns) organization and appreciate so many that have a part in this step in a basketball journey that has not chapters but volumes to be written,” Barry posted on X. “Looking forward to the journey w/some incredible minds but moreover some incredible players.”

Barry, a 14-year NBA veteran, was previously with the San Antonio Spurs since 2018 as the team’s vice president of basketball operations.

“And to the (Spurs) organization-there aren’t words there is only what has already been shared,” Barry said in a separate tweet. “It is family and it is community and it is knowing that there is a life bigger than basketball. There is no place like SA and you helped raise three men, I am forever grateful.”

Barry is the sixth reported assistant to join new coach Mike Budenholzer‘s staff. Budenholzer was an assistant with the Spurs from 1996-2013, while Barry played for the Spurs from 2004-08, winning the 2005 and 2007 NBA Finals with San Antonio.
