In his playing career, Cooper was at Division II school Colorado State-Pueblo who took home the 2014 national championship. Getting his coaching career started, he then became a graduate assistant for the Thunderwolves in 2016.

Cooper was also the recruiting assistant and running backs analyst at Colorado (2020-21), the wide receiver assistant and offensive quality control coach at UC Davis (2018-19) and a wide receiver coach and graduate assistant at West Texas A&M (2017). While he was in California, UC Davis went on to become joint Big Sky champions in 2018 with Weber State and Eastern Washington since all three teams each had a conference record of 7-1.

Up until he joined ASU, Cooper served the last two seasons (2022-23) as Boise State’s coordinator of recruiting relations and player personnel. Boise State has been on top of 247Sports 2023 and 2024 recruiting rankings in the Mountain West, with Cooper playing a large role.

Familiar with people at Arizona State, Cooper previously worked with Jason Cvercko, a former director of recruiting operations at Boise State, and reunited in Tempe. Cvercko is ASU’s associate athletic director of player personnel and recruiting.

The Sun Devils will begin the 2024 season on August 31 when they take on Wyoming at Mountain America Stadium at 7 p.m. PT.

Minnesota native, high school LHP Max Arlich de-committed from Texas A&M, flips to ASU
