Despite shooting 2-for-9 (22.2%) from the field and 0-for-7 from three, Clark became the first rookie to post 10 assists in a WNBA All-Star Game ever.

With more effort on defense than in years past at previous All-Star Games, she was able to demonstrate her elite playmaking skill and visionary passing to find her open teammates while her own shots weren’t falling.

While some fans watched for the game as a whole, others keyed in on Clark with a huge buzz surrounding since she was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. From being a national sensation in college at Iowa to her already being a star in the pros, she has brought millions of new eyes to the women’s game, hence the “Caitlin Clark Effect” phrase.

In every arena she has played in, there is a huge swarm of people chanting her name and wearing jerseys with her name and No. 22 on the back. When she visits different cities, the opposing teams’ home game attendance has skyrocketed. So much so that records are being broken across the country and some teams have even changed their playing venue to a larger arena to capitalize off of the increased interest and potential revenue with her in their town.

The WNBA has been on the rise this year and a huge credit has gone to Clark. At the time of reporting, the viewership numbers for the All-Star Game this year have not been released.

Clark’s massive following on social media has caused a massive growth in excitement around the league, and she will continue to do so for years to come.
