Griner averaged 26.5 points on 62.5% from the field, while collecting nine rebounds and tallying two blocks per game. Griner’s two 25-plus point games this past week marks 55 career games with those numbers, good for eighth in WNBA history.

Griner has appeared in four games this season, missing the first 10 games with a left toe fracture. Griner has certainly gotten back to her star-studded play since returning to the lineup.

“We are going to evolve here as we start to throw it [the ball] to [Brittney Griner] more,” Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts said on Sunday. “She is just a huge presence down there and she makes good decisions.”

Griner becomes the second Mercury player this season to win the Western Conference Player of the Week award. Kahleah Copper took home the award the week of May 20-26.

The Mercury are 3-1 with Griner in the lineup, and have looked like a league-wide threat thanks to Griner’s inside presence.
