If there was a Clutch Player of the Year award in the WNBA, Kahleah Copper would surely be a contender.

Copper nailed one of the best game-winning shots of the season against the Minnesota Lynx on Friday, and then closed out by scoring eight points in double overtime against the Dallas Wings on Sunday.

Copper has been a scorching hot closer for Phoenix, and she’s been the reason why the Mercury have won each of their last two games. Copper credits her clutch gene not just towards her skill-set and mentality, but to her teammates encouraging her throughout the course of the game.

“It’s a testament to them because when I miss shots, they’re just so encouraging,” Copper said regarding the encouragement she received from her Mercury teammates on Sunday. “Or even when I turn the ball over, just trying to make the right play. I had six turnovers — not one time did I hear my teammates like, ‘come on’. Everything was just super encouraging, so when you have that confidence and you know they have that belief in you, you’re able to make those plays.”
