The Diamondbacks will celebrate the life and legacy of Lou Gehrig ahead of their game against the San Francisco Giants on Monday. $5 of every ticket purchased will be donated toward ALS research and care. Organizations that will receive these donations include the ALS Association Arizona Chapter, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Barrow Neurological Institute. Fulton ALS and Neuromuscular Dystrophy Disease Center, ALS Arizona, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association before first pitch. Doug Clough, an ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will read Lou Gehrig’s famous Luckiest Man speech from 1939. Gabe Tapia, a Diamondbacks fan currently batting ALS, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Major League Baseball celebrated Lou Gehrig Day on June 2, with all players, managers, and coaches wearing a special No. 4 patch for their respective game.
