Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte holds the longest active hitting streak in Major League Baseball, recording a hit in 21 straight games. That’s tied with Danny Bautista (2004) for the fourth longest hitting streak in franchise history. Only Tony Womack (24, 2002), Paul Goldschmidt (26, 2013), and Luis Gonzalez (30, 1999) have longer streaks.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! In those 21 games, Marte is batting .270 (24-for-89) with four doubles, two triples, five home runs, and a .833 OPS. Perhaps the most interesting part about the streak is only three of the 21 games have multihit games, each of them including two hits. The hitting streak has not only been impressive in terms of length but has contributed to wins as the team is 12-9 in those games.
“He’s locked in, and he’s wanting to show people how good a player he is,” said manager Torey Lovullo. “He continues to prove it to us every single day.”
“Yeah, it’s cool to see,” Corbin Carroll told Jesse Friedman from PHNX. “It seems very peculiar, the fact it has been one hit so many days. I don’t even know how that’s possible. It seems like every ball he hits is just hit right on the nails.”
Corbin Carroll on Ketel Marte's 21-game hitting streak:

The batted ball data backs up Carroll’s point. Since April 28, the day the hitting streak began, Marte is averaging a 94.7 MPH exit velocity with 56.7% of them being classified as hard-hit, a batted ball with 95+ MPH exit velocity. Baseball Savant’s xStats are relatively close to his output, with his .289 xBA, .533 xSLG, and .373 xwOBA slightly outperforming his .270 BA, .528 SLG, and .356 wOBA.
Marte will have a chance to catch Womack when the Marlins come into town for the weekend. He’ll need to record a hit in all three games of the series to do so.
